ELQUI GLOBAL ENERGY
CACTUS GREEN BIOFUEL
In the first studies carried out in 1984 at the University of Chile (Contreras and Toha), it is discovered by accident that the nopal when fermenting under anaerobic conditions produces volumes of important gas.
In the year 2,000, Engineer Rodrigo Wayland prepares his thesis and finds this information that is applied in the treatment of the insect caramel waste that feeds on the wisdom of the nopales and from which the red carmine dye is obtained In this way the first biogas plant with nopales in the world is built to produce electricity in the interior of the Elqui Valley, Chile.
Subsequently, in 2008, this technology is brought to Zacatecas, Aguascalientes, Michoacán and other states of Mexico for implementation in new projects.
